Orang Utan Republik Foundation now a tax-exempt organization

After eight months of waiting for the IRS to evaluate the paperwork, the Orang Utan Republik Foundation (OURF) is now a legal tax-exempt organization with the highly prized, "501(c)(3)" status that is given to publicly supported non-profits. Donors can give with assurance their gift is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. The effective date for OURF receiving the tax-exempt status is September 6, 2008. OURF's Employer Identification Number used for identifying the organization is 26-0880405.

Since October 2004, OURF has been a project operating under Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (S.E.E.), an incubator non-profit that provides tax-exempt status to such projects. S.E.E. does encourage the projects to "spin-off" as their own 501(c)(3) once they have a level of funding and adequate capacity to operate on their own within the IRS's public charity framework.

OURF does encourage its supporters and volunteers to assist in helping OURF build its capacity. There is a real need for volunteers to help in the various aspects of a non-profit organization. Please do contact OURF at info@orangutanrepublik.org for more information.
